You've seen the pictures of Havelock's perfect beaches, but you're craving something more. You want to see the wild, untouched side of the Andamans, explore its dense jungles, and witness natural wonders that few tourists get to see. If you have a spirit of adventure and the luxury of time, this 10-day offbeat itinerary is for you.

This plan is the ultimate Andaman adventure. It combines the must-see highlights of the main tourist circuit—Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil—with a rugged and rewarding road trip into the heart of Middle and North Andaman to discover the Limestone Caves of Baratang and the magical twin islands of Ross and Smith.

This is not a trip for the faint of heart; it involves long travel days and basic accommodation in the north. But the reward is an unparalleled glimpse into the pristine, untamed beauty of the archipelago.

1. Is This 10-Day Itinerary Right for You?

  • Who it's for: Second-time visitors, adventurous first-timers, backpackers, and nature lovers with at least 10 days to spare.

  • What to Expect: A journey of contrasts. You will experience both the comfortable, well-developed tourism of Havelock and the basic, rustic charm of North Andaman. Be prepared for a very long (but scenic) road trip.

2. The 10-Day Offbeat Itinerary: A Day-by-Day Adventure

Day 1: Arrival in Port Blair Arrive at Port Blair Airport (IXZ), check into your hotel, and relax. Spend the evening at Corbyn's Cove Beach or do some initial souvenir shopping at Aberdeen Bazaar.

Day 2: Journey to Havelock & Radhanagar Sunset Take an early morning private ferry to Havelock Island. Check into your resort, rent a scooter, and spend the afternoon at the world-famous Radhanagar Beach, staying until after the magnificent sunset.

Day 3: Havelock - Underwater Exploration Dedicate the day to adventure. Go for a Discover Scuba Dive session or take a boat to Elephant Beach for a day of snorkeling and other water sports.

Day 4: Havelock Leisure & Ferry to Neil Island Enjoy a relaxed morning. You could visit Kalapathar Beach for sunrise or explore some of Havelock's famous cafes. In the afternoon, take the ferry to the tranquil Neil Island. Check in and head to Laxmanpur Beach for the sunset.

Day 5: Neil Island Sights & Return to Port Blair Explore Neil's main attractions in the morning: the Natural Bridge at low tide and a swim at Bharatpur Beach. In the afternoon, take your pre-booked ferry back to Port Blair.

Day 6: The Great Road Trip North (to Rangat) Today, the offbeat adventure begins. Start very early (around 4 AM) for the long road journey up the Andaman Trunk Road (ATR). Your first stop will be the Baratang Limestone Caves, accessed via a thrilling mangrove boat ride. After the tour, continue your journey to Rangat in Middle Andaman for an overnight stay to break up the trip.

Day 7: Journey to Diglipur & Kalipur Beach Continue the scenic drive from Rangat to Diglipur, the main town of North Andaman. Check into your hotel. In the evening, visit Kalipur Beach, a known nesting ground for sea turtles (seasonal).

Day 8: The Crown Jewel: The Twin Ross & Smith Islands This is the highlight of your northern exploration. Take a boat from the Aerial Bay Jetty near Diglipur to the spectacular Ross & Smith Islands. Spend the day walking across the natural sandbar that connects the twin islands, swimming in the crystal-clear water, and soaking in the pristine, untouched beauty.

Day 9: The Long Journey Back to Port Blair Start your day very early for the long 10-12 hour drive back to Port Blair. You will arrive in the capital in the evening. Check into your hotel and relax after the epic road trip.

Day 10: Departure Enjoy a final, leisurely breakfast in Port Blair before your transfer to the airport for your flight home, filled with memories from every corner of the Andaman Islands.

3. The Two Modes of Travel: Ferries & The Road

This extensive itinerary masterfully combines the two essential modes of Andaman travel.

  • By Sea: The first half of your adventure, exploring the popular islands of Havelock and Neil, relies entirely on fast and comfortable private ferries. It's crucial to book these journeys in advance.

  • By Land: The second half of your trip is a rugged road adventure up the Andaman Trunk Road.

Booking your initial ferry journeys on GoNautika for a premium vessel like Nautika ensures you can seamlessly connect the different phases of your Andaman exploration—from the comfortable island-hopping to the rugged northern adventure.
